The second publication in the series of doctoral dissertations in art history deals with the Jesuit heritage in Latvia. Jesuits were active on this territory from 1582 to 1820, and artistic contribution of this Catholic spiritual order has enriched the cultural milieu of Latvia, creating influential examples and coinciding with European-wide processes in culture. Artistic aspirations of Societas Jesu are studied as a specific phenomenon that has left traces in all regions of Latvia. The researcher has examined not only testimonies of Jesuit art that have survived till our days but also lost monuments, such as the outstanding sacred complexes in Daugavpils and Ilūkste. While working on the dissertation, materials have been studied in the archives of Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Malta.
